i recently sat down to watch the rob zombie flick "the devils rejects" and i have to say i saw several similarities interms of themes, social comment and even character personalities. for those who dont want to here a few spoilers dont read further, for those who dont care...well, read on then.

the main plot in devils rejects is showing the story of the bad guys but showing that they are somewhat a good bunch aside from the insanity bits. for example they wholedstrong family values, trying to protect ech other in dire situations and even mourning fore the death of kin. this isn't really the same in literal terms but interms of the theme, showing the "other" side of a story rather than sticking with the "good" guys, is the primary similarity in this department.

the second one was the social comment this i suppose follows with the themes with how aside from personal views and personal preference the villains in reality may be just like the heroes. just have some difference of opinion or moral differences. like how the firefly family have no problem killing other people, total strangers but when one of there own are attack and killed by others, they take it very hard and personal. this is similar to my story in that my main character is somewhat likable and familiar in someregards and the rest of the time he is a sick fuck you would want to meet, same with the pirate crew on board the Bloodied Virtue. the good guys are also far more corupt and not so pure of heart in reality like the sheriff in TDR and the Oben forces in VG.

and the third main point of closeness is the necrofelia. as soon as i saw the first scene where otis firefly is sleeping with a corpse in hand like a teddy bear i was like "you have GOT to be shitting me!" i've never even seen this movie or its predesesor and it has roughly the same kinda of scene , includoing the facty that both characters from either story are woken or interupted by authorities XD

these are merely the main pieces i picked up but you get the idea (i hope) just thought it interesting how close my story was wiht themes, social comment, and even a scene. despite me never seeing a rob zombie film lol

i can definitly say with straight face that after the mark i got for my story "vapour ghosts" in scifi class, my teacher would likely never want to see this movie XD
